Continuer reading...Being Artistic with the Kids Art!
After reading “The Dot” by Peter Reynolds I was inspired to create a simple online photo book using photos I have taken throughout the year of my kids various art projects. I just took snapshots of their clay sculptures and scanned some of my favorite school work pieces into a file on the computer. With four kids we just don’t have enough wall space to display it all but I thought a photo book would be fun way to keep all their art together and to be able to look back on it down the road. My eight year old even had fun cropping and choosing the boarders online and for about $20.00 we now have a great memory of the year’s art projects. This is a great project for a rainy day and with military spouses traveling so much; isn’t a book easier to pack? I even included a few finger paintings created by […]
Continuer reading...Two Benefits of the Hourly Scheduling Concept
I have been journaling for years and my entries often reflect on personal and professional goals. But recently I went back and tweaked a journal entry after my husband shared a tip he read from the goal setting guy Brian Tracy. Instead of a “to-do list” he recommends actually scheduling each hour of the following day. I tried the hourly schedule concept, where in addition to task and fun related items, you also set aside reflection time. Let me tell you what a difference this makes. I find that I have time for both work related tasks and blueberry picking with the kids. The benefits are twofold… 1) You set yourself up for a purposeful day that includes “reflection time”. I find a lot of benefit in this because by “sleeping on” our plans creative ideas come to us in the morning with less effort, how cool is that?! 2) I also try and think […]
Continuer reading...Self Care Can Be Delicious!
Experts tell us that it is more important to spend time on yourself than your business so this month I am dedicating my free teleclass to self care: Making time to exercise and eat right; drink more water and feel great! Lots of spouses have tips; so let’s get together and share them, because the better we feel the more successful we are! The other day my husband came home from Crossfit Relentless (our gym) with a sample of homemade paleo food! How cool it would be if I could afford pre-cooked food for the week. But what I loved more than the food was the yummy plantain chips (fulfilled my desire for a crunch!) and mashed plantains (fulfilled my desire for mashed and sweet!). I got the idea that I need to start substituting my bad habits with good ones. Frozen fruit at night instead of ice cream; lightly steamed cauliflower with fresh rosemary […]
Continuer reading...Getting Organized for Summer
Getting Organized for Summer In May I promoted my “30 Days to Spring Clean Your Life” and military spouses loved it! They said it is so much easier to tackle a little project each day rather than a big one, and I couldn’t agree more. If you haven’t done the challenge, it is not too late. Sign up for my free ezine and I will put a copy in my next newsletter! I am not sure why, but every time I follow the concept, my business grows; it’s like magic! Try it yourself and let me know? I had one military spouse share that people saw it on her fridge and wanted a copy for themselves. It is almost the last day of school for me and that means being home with four kids under eight all summer so I spent time this week getting the yard toys out of the shed and organizing their […]
Continuer reading...Article: Roll Up Your Sleeves
Goal Setting CAN Be A Lot Of Fun! Hopefully all of you own a goal setting journal that you keep on your desk or nightstand, and you are now a “believer” when it comes to writing goals. As I previously mentioned, goal setting can be easy and fun if you are focused on committing to goals that are meaningful and inspire you. I think the hardest part of goal setting is really choosing the goals that align with your vision and creating the time to commit to them. A positive feeling toward your goal is so much more important than the specific steps, because if the passion comes from within, the rest will fall into place. When you hit the proverbial hiccups in the road you will feel the fear but stay in action until the frustrations subside. Once you think of your goal, ask yourself why it is important, when are you going to […]
Continuer reading...Article: Can Bookkeepers & Accountants Count On Their Jobs Being Portable?
I recently heard that you can determine someone’s future career by looking at their favorite board game as a kid. Well, sure enough, Sue, a Massachusetts Marine wife and accountant, said her favorite game as a kid was — you guessed it — Monopoly! Sue says accounting just isn’t one of those career fields that you “grow to like.” It’s “a mindset/lifestyle of left-brained people!” And she knew from an early age that she had an exacting eye, strict attention to detail, and a love of numbers… Read the full article on Cinchouse.com.
Continuer reading...Article: A Career You Can Take With You: What Does It Take To Be A Life Coach?
It takes three things to be a life coach: a desire to listen with an open heart, some knowledge of how to motivate people, and an overall entrepreneurial mindset. A relatively new profession, coaching helps individuals and businesses accomplish their goals. Some coaches focus on overcoming particular challenges such as completing a thesis, writing a book, or starting a business; others work to motivate… Read the full article on Cinchouse.com

One military couple formed a husband-and-wife team after he retired from the Air Force. After leaving the service, he went to the Hallmark Institute of Photography in MA and while they both started out with jobs in various studies, they combined the business acumen she picked up from years of sales and training jobs, with his military discipline, and their combined artistic eye, and they started a flourishing business out of their home. They recommend that new photographers something like the Connecticut Professional Photographers’ Association (CPPA) to network with other professional photographers. Ask anyone in the military what they do; they will give you a lengthy job description. But for those of us supporting them, that innocent question, “What do you do?” isn’t always as easy. Finding a portable career while in the military takes trial and error but have faith that you too, can have a career you love…. Read the full article at Cinchouse.com
